See on Scoop.it – Cultural evolution

Tom Uytterhoeven’s insight:
This is a beautiful, touching story, not only because of the biographical details, but even more because it shows the power of culture. A woman who feels she’s losing grips of her memory uses writing as a last resort for her prayers. And precisely this cultural artefact, her fossilized prayers, written in code on index cards, allows us to empathise with her, to bridge the gap of space and time between this deceased woman and ourselves.
