You might have noticed the little buzz on social media about the role of story telling in human evolution. In my view, this is an important step in human evolution indeed, so much so that I even proposed “becoming a story teller” as a metaphor for “becoming a teacher” (see this link, text material in Dutch). But writing took it to the next level, the level that enables me to communicate with you, wherever you are, whenever you read this. Writing made our complex societies possible.
